What Is a Ritual Master? A Story of Meeting My First Teacher

17 August 20265 min readThe Path of Initiation Prague

Every seeker eventually meets someone who changes the direction of their search. This is the story of the day I met mine.

The One Who Wasn't Afraid

They didn't look any different from anyone else. They had a life, a family, they laughed easily and clearly enjoyed being alive. But sit with them for even a few minutes and something else became obvious: they carried themselves with a quiet dignity and honor I hadn't seen before, and they knew more — about God, about Magick, about the things I had spent years quietly wondering about — than anyone I had ever met. Most strikingly of all, they simply weren't afraid, not of the world, and not of the questions that make most people flinch.

I had found a Ritual Master, though I didn't yet have the word for it.

"You Are Not Ready"

Naturally, I tried to open a conversation — I wanted to know everything, right away. She told me, gently but firmly, that I wasn't ready. I'll admit it: I was a little furious at first, thinking rather too highly of myself in my own foolishness. But she didn't budge. This kind of knowledge, she explained, is not easy to carry. Before I could go looking for it, I needed to prepare the person who would be carrying it — me.

Her instructions were specific: receive a Life Activation and become an initiate. Then attend Healers Academy. Only after that would I be ready to begin training alongside the Ritual Masters themselves.

I didn't fully understand the reasoning at the time. I followed the path anyway, mostly because I couldn't see another way forward. And boy, was she right.

Why the Preparation Actually Matters

Every step along that path prepared me for what came next. Healing and empowerment exist to purify the vessel that will eventually carry the weight of being a Ritual Master — and this is no ceremonial nicety. It is, quite literally, the work of God on a planet where most people forgot to look for God a long time ago. Even those who believe they already know God are often content with only a fraction of it, quietly slumbering rather than seeking more. A Ritual Master has to stand purely and steadily inside that world, holding a boundary against everything that would rather see them worn down and made impure.

Only once that inner purification had genuinely taken hold was I ready for what I had originally come looking for: ritual Magick of the highest order — the kind capable of changing the world, not just the person practicing it.

What a Ritual Master Actually Is

A Ritual Master is not a costume or a title claimed overnight. Within the Modern Mystery School, it names someone trained, tested, and initiated within an unbroken lineage stretching back to King Salomon — someone who has done the inner work first, so that the outer work can be trusted. Their practice is High Magick offered in service of others: healing, protection, and ritual work held to the standard of an honest, equal exchange of energy, never used for domination or self-interest. It is a demanding path, and it is meant to be — you can read more about what that training actually asks of a person on our Ritual Master page.

If You Are Seeking the Same Thing

If any part of this story sounds familiar — if you already sense there is more to know about God and Magick, and you are willing to prepare yourself properly before seeking it — there is a real place to begin. It is called the Modern Mystery School, an ancient school of God and Magick standing in the lineage of King Salomon the Wise. It is where I met my own teacher, and it is where I still return to train, to this day.

The path runs the same way it did for me: Life Activation first, then Empower Thyself followed by Healers Academy, and from there, Ritual Master training itself. Every step is demanding, and every single one of them is worth it.
